Production
What would it take material wise to get into pvp?
A standard competitive PVP ship costs about 5k T3 exotic tech, which is the bottleneck component early on.. and a whole bunch of materials (1-2M steel plate, 250k metal grid, etc. see screenshot).
When you first start with PVP you can expect to lose a lot of ships. So replacement is key.
Let’s aim for 1 PVP ship per week costing 5K T3.
Now we need to know which options are available to get materials and which paths we can take to get to our goal.
Options to attain materials
Voting
200 T3 per day, plus graphine and other special materials. Use the !supportus and !reward commands in chat.
Crafting & Mining
A full T3 production costs 600 T3. A T3 Miner costs 100 graphine for 1 goliath drill + 600 T3 for 10 elite drills. While you can craft materials relatively fast with a T3 production, tech produces very slow. Only a T4 production can meet our goal of 5k per week with ease. However getting T4 is a huge grind, as 1 T4 costs 250 T3. You will need two-and-a-half T4 refineries with T4 yield modules (3x REF at 107.500 T3) to feed 10x T4 assemblers with T0 modules (10x ASS at 7.500 T3).
Roaching
Roaching is fighting and then eating NPC ships in the Roach Motel sector. Roaching can yield 5k T3 per hour once you get good at it. Plus a lot of materials. A good roaching ship costs around 5k T3. If you do a bit of roaching each week, you do not need a production. You can find roachers in the discord forum and trade sections, or in the steam workshop. Or you can design one yourself.
Cheesing
The King of the Hill KOTH station gives 420 T3 per 5 min, double at happy hour. It is located in DW Space. Use a !nexus getsectors true command in chat to get the GPS. Each scored point gets broadcast server wide. Typically players go there to fight. However you can also go there in a fast expendable ship. It needs to have a minimum of 1000 blocks in order to score. Collect tech, and run away at the first sign of trouble. This is called ‘cheesing’. Tip: you can use this to pay for a roacher.

- Vote daily.
- Build a base with 10 T3 assemblers(speed mods) and 10 T3 refineries(yield mods).
- Build a miner with a goliath drill.
- Set your production to craft tech continually once you have a decent stock of basic components. You can use scripts like Isy's Inventory Manager for this.
- Build a cheeser, and score points at KOTH for tech until you can afford a roacher.
- Find or build a roacher. Start eating NPCs. It will take you 1-2 weeks to get good at it.
- Make a decision if you want to go for a T4 production, or just get tech via roaching & cheesing. Remember, just 1-2 hours of roaching each week will afford you a nice PvP ship.
- Keep roaching and cheesing. Build 1 T4 refinery with 4x T4 yield modules first, then 10 T4 assemblers, and another T4 refinery.
- This can take a few months. Once done, you can afford more expensive PvP ships.
Tips
- In order for your production to do something, your grid needs to be a station, and you need to visit it after each restart to activate it.
