Attitude
Attitude is a large factor in determining fun & success in PVP. Here are some tips. The author does not claim to be a holy saint here, that is always in his right mind.
Determination
When you start with PVP, you are likely to lose the first x battles. Do not give up. Keep coming back. Learn each time.
Replacement
Do you care about your ship? If the answer is yes then you are not suited for PVP. Fix it so that you don’t. Having an awesome production is one way. Just print another ship! It’s just blocks. Who cares if the enemy blows it up. Unhangar another one.
Fun
Try to have fun. Explosions, blocks floating everywhere, big holes in ships. Fun, right?
Ego
Everyone has an ego. Everyone likes to win, and dislikes defeat. In some games getting killed is not a big deal. Like in big team games. You just got unlucky, you respawn, and carry on. The team lost, we lost, never i lost.
However in games where you have 1v1 PVP situations, it is not so easy to assign the blame for your defeat to some circumstance or luck.
In SE, when you fight 1v1, and if you lose, it really is the enemy that defeated YOU. He is the better player, and/or has made a better ship than you. This can be confronting.
A lot of players will try to dodge the ego damage with accusations. ‘not a fair fight’ ‘he is cheating’ ‘he used dishonorable tactics’ etc. If you find yourself doing this, and at some point we all do, try to control yourself.
There is no shame in losing a good fight. Also, there will always be better players, and worse ones.
Fair play
Try to play fair
Even if your opponent does not, being a gentleman will score you more points with the community than being a [tube shaped object attached to male human lower end].
Try not to hate
Hate leads to the darkside. Why suffer hate? Let it go.
It is only a space game
Is it though?
